Most hydrogen is produced by combining natural gas with water (or a catalytic water-splitting reaction). It doesn’t pollute the environment, and it’s already available to you in water bottles, soda pop, and fruits and vegetables that use it in their production.
When you drink hydrogen water, you release carbon dioxide out of your body and draw in more oxygen, and your body gets a boost of energy for aerobic and anaerobic activity.
What are the benefits of drinking hydrogen water?
There are a few advantages to drinking hydrogenated foods and beverages. Just one 12 ounce can of regular soda contains 142 calories and 12 grams of carbohydrates. A single 8-ounce cup of hydrogenated vegetable oil contains 21 calories and 2 grams of carbohydrates. A glass of regular (not hydrogenated) coffee contains about 50 calories, approximately 3 grams of carbohydrate, 0.5 grams of fiber, and one teaspoon of salt. The typical diet also consists of thousands of ingredients that the body must break down to get energy, including vitamins and minerals. In contrast, hydrogenated oils add a long list of nutrients to the diet.
In many cases, hydrogen water appears to be a superior water source than standard tap water. The special properties of hydrogen water make it a valuable and attractive option for many people who need or want more efficient water in their homes. For example, some may find that hydrogen water provides a source of drinking water with nearly twice the purification power of existing bottled water products. Hydrogen water can save homeowners money on water bills by allowing for better billing and avoiding expensive building maintenance. Perhaps more importantly, however, hydrogen water is beneficial in cases where their tap water is not producing sufficient levels of energy to meet their needs.
Hydrogen is great for some applications, and can often be found on the shelves at Whole Foods. However, in some situations, it is important to use hydrogen to alleviate corrosive chemical residues found in water systems.
Is there a difference between hydrogen and water?
Not exactly, but hydrogen does have a number of unique advantages over water.
Hair-dry vs. water-dry. Hydrogen has a much higher boiling point and higher critical heat capacity than water. This means that the combination of hydrogen and water is not stable or predictable steam. With good deaeration and good pressure, more powerful steam is produced, which means higher efficiency at high pressures.
Does hydrogen water really work?
In recent years, hydrogen water has gained popularity. In their seminal 1992 textbook, “Hydrogen Energy: A Synthesis,” Albert Einstein, Herbert Dingle, and David Babbage describe this water as one of the most promising energy sources in history because of its high energy density, and relatively large conversion efficiency. Hydrogen water converts into the water when oxidized in the air by oxygen molecules to produce water vapor.
Some scientists have hypothesized that even if it were possible to store hydrogen as nuclear material, the energy density of hydrogen would make it extremely difficult to actually work with, much like it is for lithium or sodium.
What are the side effects of hydrogen water?
The side effects are pretty minor. The most common side effect is itching, but most other symptoms appear within two days. People with weakened immune systems are more prone to these side effects than other people, which is why anyone taking nitric oxide supplements should be very careful.
There are a few that have been reported, but if you experience them it’s unlikely that the water you’re drinking has caused them. The main symptoms are dryness of the mouth, possible bleeding, or headaches. The side effects are minimal. The most common side effect is itching, but most other symptoms appear within two days. People with weakened immune systems are more prone to these side effects than other people.
There are few side effects and problems associated with taking water containing hydrogen peroxide.
You do not need to take hydrogen peroxide on a regular basis. Generally, though, if you are over age 65, consider taking hydrogen peroxide with your daily flu shots if you have a common cold or the flu. The safety and effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide with medicine are not fully known.
Hydrogen water is also known as water mixtures. If you use hydrogen water as your primary water source you may experience these side effects:
- Mild irritation.
- Itching or burning of the skin.
- Dry skin.
- Difficulty urinating.
- Possible kidney damage.
- Heart problems.
- Possible disordered thinking.
- Eye problems.
- Possible dementia.
How much hydrogen water should you drink a day?
Most health experts say you should drink at least six glasses of water a day. But we don’t think you should substitute instant coffee or tea for water.
We believe you should drink plenty of water at first, and then continue to drink up to 12 glasses a day as you build up your hydration levels.
The answer depends on your hydration status. Hyponatremia is usually caused by consuming too much water. The dilution of the electrolyte in the water (potassium carbonate) can be lower in people who have a low amount of water in their body, such as a liver disease sufferer. The potassium carbonate allows the water to pass through the cell membrane, leaving the sodium in the water behind. As a result, the normal concentration of sodium in the blood is not exactly as it should be, due to dilution of the electrolyte water.
Hydrogen water drinks usually contain 20% or more water and the water is dissolved in an acid. Most of this acid is hydrogen. The amount of hydrogen per litre of water is a limited resource and will most likely run out. Thus in many cases hydrogen water must be very well diluted to compensate for the significant losses.
Hydrogen deuterated water is often marketed as offering some sort of headache relief, but I do not think this is the case.
